Drone Survey for Mineral Exploration

Drone Survey for Mineral Exploration Services

With a drone survey for mineral exploration, we fly your ground, process the data, and tell you what it shows.

Flown by an FAA Part 107 licensed pilot with more than 2,500 hours on unmanned aircraft, flying them since 1992. Certified Mapping Scientist, UAS (ASPRS). $1M aviation liability insurance.

Why a drone survey for mineral exploration?

  • LiDAR survey: a DJI Zenmuse L3 LiDAR sensor maps the ground surface in detail, including through gaps in brush and trees. (LiDAR and photogrammetry)

  • Photogrammetric and topographic survey: a 45-megapixel mapping camera builds an accurate surface model, contours and imagery of the whole property. (LiDAR and photogrammetry)

  • Magnetic survey: a Geometrics MagArrow II magnetometer maps differences in the rock's magnetism, tracing structures and intrusions hidden under cover. (Geophysical surveys)

  • Radiometric survey: a gamma-ray spectrometer measures natural radiation at the surface, used to map alteration and to explore for uranium. (Geophysical surveys)

Federal Sites

Federal sites and federally funded projects can't be flown with DJI drones. For those jobs we fly NDAA-compliant Inspired Flight aircraft, built in the USA.

What you get

  • Surface and bare-earth elevation models.

  • Point cloud tiles and a 3D mesh of the terrain.

  • Elevation contours.

  • Aerial video, still images and panoramas of the project.

  • For magnetic and radiometric surveys: the data collected, processed and interpreted.

  • Standard file formats your team already uses (LAS, DXF, SHP, PDF).

What comes next

Staking is usually the first job, not the last. The same team can:

  • Determine land status and negotiate leases (Landman)

  • Fly the ground by drone for topographic, magnetic and radiometric surveys (Drone Survey)

  • Collect soil and rock chip samples (Sampling)

  • Draft and submit notices of intent and plans of operations (Permitting)

  • Manage the exploration program that follows (Project Management)
